Shining a light on Arthur Rank Hospice Charity
On the 21st May 2022, fundraisers across Cambridgeshire will take part in the 10k Star Shine Night Walk. The event will make Cambridge City ‘glow green’ in support of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with advanced serious illness or life-limiting conditions, and is the next charity to receive a Cuttsy Cares donation. A member of the Cuttsy team (who will be taking part in this year’s Star Shine Night Walk) nominated the charity after seeing first-hand the positive effect the charity had on their family.
“The hospice gave fantastic end of life care to both of my mum’s parents until they passed away. Palliative care is a delicate topic for those at the end of their lives and for the patients’ family and friends. However, it is extremely important, and the outstanding care provided by all the staff at Arthur Rank Hospice makes all the difference in providing patients with comfort and dignity in their last weeks.”
As well as their care for patients, they also offer practical and emotional support to relatives and friends, including psychological support, social support, spiritual care, counselling and bereavement support. The hospice cares for over 4,000 patients every year through their Cambridge based hospice, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech, and their Hospice at Home care team. For 2022/23, income from NHS contracted services is budgeted at £7.07 million, meaning that a staggering £4.44 million still needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading.
“We are delighted to be nominated to receive a donation from the company’s charitable programme, Cuttsy Cares. The generous donation could help fund a Hospice at Home visit for one patient, allowing us to provide specialist hands-on care and support in their own home.” - Katy Abraham-Hall, Corporate Partnerships Lead at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity
