Associate Medical Writer

As an Associate Medical Writer, you will support the creation of high-quality, scientifically accurate, and engaging healthcare communication materials, with a focus on content designed for healthcare professionals (HCPs). Working closely with a dynamic team of colleagues, you may also contribute to a range of projects aimed at patients and other audiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop foundational medical writing skills, gain exposure to various therapeutic areas, and grow within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Research, write, and reference scientifically accurate content tailored for HCP-focused materials, including training modules, presentations, and product communications
- Adapt writing styles to suit various communication purposes and target audiences, including HCPs, patients, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate on health communications projects across a variety of therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment with client objectives and messaging strategies
- Develop knowledge of multiple therapy areas, including clinical landscapes, target markets, and emerging trends
- Collaborate with team members to refine and deliver content that meets client objectives and quality standards
- Learn and apply compliance regulations, including familiarity with the ABPI Code of Practice
- Use content review tools, such as Veeva Vault, to manage review and approval processes
- Participate in client meetings, including taking notes and assisting with content presentations when required
- Proactively manage workload to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
- Contribute to internal processes such as timesheet completion and maintaining organised project files
Key skills and experience
- A degree-level qualification in a biomedical science or related field
- At least 1 year of experience in medical writing or a similar role, preferably in healthcare communications or a related scientific field
- Strong scientific understanding and interest in healthcare communication
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to quickly absorb and translate complex scientific concepts into engaging, accessible content tailored for HCPs
- Basic understanding of the commercial aspects of healthcare communications
- Ideally already have a foundational knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice and its application in healthcare communications
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proactive and adaptable mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
